Keeping Your Bike Clean This Winter

A 5-minute Daily Cleaning Routine

Keeping Your Bike Clean This Winter

Caring for your bike during the winter is essential for its longevity and performance. Regular cleaning and maintenance will not only make the job easier but also help in preventing damage.

It's important to clean the chain, gears, cranks, and wheel rims every week or two to remove built-up grease and grime. Additionally, after riding in extreme weather conditions, make sure to clean salt or sand off your fenders and wipe down the frame.

By staying consistent with weekly maintenance, you can avoid the need for a complete overhaul. If you find it difficult to manage the cleaning, head over to our workshop for a wash and lube at only R200.

  3. Use the earbuds to clear out any stubborn grease and to clear all the corners and holes.
  4. Drop lubricant on each chain link.
  5. Use the toothbrush or chain scrubber to reach all the areas of the chain, especially if they are showing signs of rust.
  6. Wipe away any excess oil with the rag while spinning the chain.
  7. After each ride in wet, salty or cold conditions, wipe down your rims, spokes, chainrings, cog set, chain, brake cables, cranks and frame, with a clean rag, to prevent rusting

This quick routine will ensure that your bike stays in top shape and is ready to explore the warmer months after winter again.
